The Zeta Gamma Chapter was chartered
here on the beautiful campus of the
University of North Carolina at Charlotte on

UNCC.
Local History
International History
Alpha Delta Pi was founded on May 15, 1851 at
Wesleyan College in Macon, Georgia by six
incredible young women, led by Eugenia Tucker
Fitzgerald. These women and their Adelphean
Society hold the distinction of being the first
secret society for women and the mother of
today's sorority system. We were founded on the
principles of scholarship, leadership, service to
others, social, and sisterhood, and these
principles still guide the policies and programs of
the sorority today.
Today
Alpha Delta Pi has initiated more than 215,000
women, many of whom are actively involved in
one of our over 134 collegiate chapters or 150
alumnae associations throughout the United
States and Canada. Our Executive Office is
currently located in Atlanta, Georgia.

Badge
The diamond-shaped badge of Alpha Delta Pi was
first worn by the Adelpheans in 1852. The badge
has a black enamel center which pictures clasped
hands, two stars, and the greek letters Alpha Delta
Pi. The badge is commonly worn with a guard
bearing the member's chapter of initiation.

The official colors of Alpha Delta Pi are Azure blue
and white. Blue is symbolic of friendship, the basic
spirit upon which ADPi is founded. White
symbolizes sincerety and truth, qualities we seek in
all of our members.
Official Flower
The Woodland Violet is the official flower of Alpha
Delta Pi. It grows wild and is unvailable for purchase,
therefore, African Violets are often used instead.
Coat of Arms
Agnes Chapman, a sister of Alpha chapter is
responsible for the design of the coat of arms.
Symbolism from our ritual, badge, and alpha pin
are featured on the coat of arms.
