GPSG Treasurer:

> Sarah
Birdsong, MGSA ~ Mathematics
The Treasure for GPSG is primarily responsible for keeping all financial
records and answering funding questions from graduate students. Twice a year, he
or she is required to hold a meeting to educate organizational treasurers. While
it is occasionally demanding, it is also quite rewarding. You will be given many
opportunities to interact with upper level administration and will have
excellent experience learning to administrate and balance finances yourself. A
moderate stipend is included to help offset the 9-10 hours per week that the
office is expected to entail.
The duties of the office include chairing the GPSG
Finance Committee, representing graduate student needs on the Student Activity
Fee Commission, maintaining and monitoring GPSG budgetary records,
administrating all funding requests (e.g., events, travel, etc.), acting as
liaison with the SAFC Business Manager on all financial matters, proposing and
explaining the GPSG budget, ensuring compliance with the Treasury Laws, and
reviewing, revising, and editing these same laws as necessary.
GPSG Outreach Officer:

>
Javaid Ikram,
SPIE ~ Optical Science & Engineering
The Outreach Officer of GPSG is a new, exciting
opportunity for a motivated graduate student to put his or her mark on a new
office in GPSG. The first time it will be held as an elected position and full
member of the Executive Committee, this officer will have the primary
responsibility for reaching out to the graduate student body to build interest
and participation in GPSG.
A moderate stipend is included to help offset the 3-4 hours per week that the
office is expected to entail.
The duties of the office will include (1) reaching out to unrepresented
academic departments, (2) serving on the Social Committee, (3) helping plan,
organize, and stage graduate student events throughout the year, (4) serving as
GPSG voice to on-campus events that draw graduate students, such as the
International Coffee Hour, and (5) attending and participating in all Executive
Board meetings and decisions. Other duties and foci will be developed by the
incoming officer, so this is a great opportunity to put your mark on this
office.
