Secretary:
Volunteers for the Graduate Research Forum will earn 2 volunteer credits for their organization if they serve on a committee for the fair, and 1 point for volunteers the day of the fair.  In addition to the Graduate Research Forum, chartered groups can earn volunteer points by participating in GPSG organized campus coffee breaks, or by participating as mentors for undergraduate students or prospective graduate students.

Treasurer Report:

There is a meeting for all treasurers Tuesday, January 7 at 5:30 pm in Fretwell 113.  Treasurers should bring a copy of their budget, and budget materials from the previous year if possible.

Graduate Research Fair:

The Research Fair is going to be held in the College of Education March 31 from 9:30 to 4 pm, and abstracts are due by February 2.  There have been some reported problems from downloading the application, often if the pop-up blocker is not disabled.  Theresa is working on finding judges and reviewers among the faculty.

The Research Fair is requesting interdisciplinary submissions for research-based papers to be presented at the fair.

Senate Meeting Schedule:

The results of the meeting-schedule survey are in.  11 groups voted (MGSA, OSGA, ABGS, AGITS, GPHA, SPIE, ACGS, GASP, EMGT, IOPGA).  Two groups voted “no,” but could come for at least part of the meetings, and so the time and date will remain Tuesday nights at 5:30 pm.

The senate discussed whether or not the GSA charter should be revoked, as they have now missed four senate meetings this year.  Complaints addressing continued problems with email notifications were brought up, while another point was made that GPSG chartered organizations are well aware of how to get their funds and should therefore be familiar with how to look up the meeting schedule online. There was a proposal for GSA to remain chartered on the condition that they somehow make up for their absences.  The senate unanimously agreed to allow GSA to propose how they would like to compensate for the absences at the next senate meeting.

There was a reminder for all student organizations to make sure they check and collect mail from their organization’s mailbox in the Cone Center.
