GPSG Minutes March 20, 2007

Motion to waive reading of the minutes: APPROVED

Motion to accept the minutes as written:  APPROVED

 

Treasurer’s Report:

  • Request for a line-item transfer from MASS, who wanted to move $1,165 from contracted services to honorariums.
    • Senate unanimously approved the line-item transfer
  • If your organization wants to do a line item transfer for your funds, you need to get the paperwork in ASAP.
  • The last day to turn in paperwork is May 11, 2007.

 

Graduate Research Fair:

  • As planned, the Graduate Research Fair will be Saturday, March 31 in the College of Education from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.  We still need some people to set up rooms the day before the fair and break down afterwards.  If you would like to volunteer, please sign in on the sign-up sheet after the meeting.
  • You can contact Theresa at gpsgvicepresident@email.uncc.edu if you would like more information about the fair.

 

Fines:

  • We have two fines to vote on this week.  Both GPPA and MPASG have two absences, which constitutes a $50 fine according to the by-laws.
    • Fine for GPPA APPROVED by senate.
    • Fine for MPASG APPROVED by senate.

 

New Charters:

  • We have three new charters joining GPSG next year:
    • ASEM – Engineering Management
    • CSGSO – Communication Studies
    • HPGSA – Health Psychology

 

GPSG Spring Schedule:

  • Officer nominations for 2007-8 are due by April 3.  The senate will go ahead and vote on officers at the next meeting if there are nominations for each officer position.
  • There are only three more meetings this year: 4/3, 4/17, and 4/24.
  • Other scheduled events include another coffee break 3/29, and the Graduate Research Fair 3/31.

 

Mentoring Program:

  • We are still trying to find out if there is any interest in implementing a GPSG Mentoring program that reaches out to undergraduates.  If you have any opinions, thoughts, or suggestions, please contact Liz at gpgpsecretary@email.uncc.edu

•          The next meeting will be April 3, 2007 at 5:30 pm in Fretwell 113

•          Officer Nominations for 2007-2008 academic year are due by April 3, 2007

•          Graduate Research Fair is March 31, 2007 from 9:30 – 4:00 pm in the new College of Education building
