Open Forum: Any
topics that need to be discussed? Any
questions you would like to ask?
• Clear up travel limits. There is an $800 per person cap on travel for the year. A member of a chartered organization can receive $500 for non-local travel and $300 for local travel per trip.
• Resources for accessing funding for grants, scholarships, or fellowships. Dr. Hall-Hertel mentioned that Dr. Susan Sell is working on a database for this type of search for UNC-Charlotte graduate students. Humanities is not well represented. Alli mentioned that the new GA for GPSG could aid in this endeavor when hired.
• Graduate student representative on the academic integrity violations committee. GPSG will talk with the office of student justice about having peers involved in important violations and Dr. Hall-Hertel will talk with the Dean of Students on how to go about this appointment. This could perhaps be a way to get “volunteer points.”
• Graduate Students need to have a stronger voice on the campus. Alli mentioned that there will be 5 At-Large positions available on the SAFC in the spring. Please talk to your groups about this NOW so that we can get representation next year.
If we do not get to your question or topic, please address it with an
officer, at the next meeting, or on the groups page
President’s Report
• GPSG involvement on campus
– Football Forum
– Vice Chancellor’s Councilà Alli is on this council. Please direct any questions or concerns to be brought up at these meetings to her.
– Student Organizations Excellence Awardsà Please visit http://studentorgs.uncc.edu/awards for detailed description of these awards. GPSG would like to nominate GPSG chartered organizations for each of these awards!!!!!
– Additionally you can recognize your advisor for all their hard work! Please visit http://studentorgs.uncc.edu/snaps
• Discuss feedback on mission statement
- Senate members would like to emphasize in the mission statement the importance of GPSG as an advocate for graduate students. A means for the inconveniences of graduate school should be “paved over” by GPSG (eg. TA parking). GPSG is a center and support for career and academic goals.
•

Treasurer’s Report
• SAFC report and travel funds
- Again, travel funds are unfrozen. Change to the reimbursements state-wide. Graduate students can no longer receive refunds for airline and conference reservations before the trip. All monies can be requested through vouchers.
• Line Item transfer – GPHA
- Clerical error made last year. All travel funding was listed as honorarium funding. Vote to transfer back to travel. APPROVED.
Nominations and
Voting
• No one has been nominated for the Outreach Officer. Next meeting a stipend will be voted on.
• No one has been nominated for the other Committees.
Attendance Review and Vote
• The Executive Committee recommends that all fines be upheld as outlined in our bylaws, but they are up for your vote. Senate decided that they do not want to be bothered by fining votes anymore. Those are the rules. The senate will only vote on revoking a charter.
• AGITS and SPO, 1 absence (warning)
• GSA, 2 absences ($50 fine)
• MGSO, 3 absences ($150 fine, charter revoked?)
