Finance Committee Information

The GPSG Finance Committee is a 5-member elected committee vested with the duties of reviewing, enacting, and verifying that the Treasury Laws are correctly and properly drafted, followed, and enforced. It is composed of four elected members and the GPSG Treasurer, who serves as the presiding chair and tie-breaker.  As part of these duties, the Finance Committee has the primary responsibility for reviewing all travel applications, all non-operational fund event applications, most line-item transfer requests, and most reserve requests. In addition, their opinions are solicited on many matters relating to the financial operations of GPSG.

All Finance Committee meetings are completely free and open to all comers. The committee meets in the student union, room 212-Z, every Thursday at 7pm. Any visitor is able to present at a meeting, if desired, but advance notice may be necessary to make room on the agenda.

SCHEDULE

Finance committee meetings are held in the student union, room 212-Z.  The committee meets every week, barring school holidays. The tentative schedule for the school year 2009-2010 may be seen below, along with a brief agenda for each meeting.

Fall 2009

  1. 10/1/09 – Orientation meeting.  Travel applications.
  2. 10/8/09 – travel applications, application form review.
  3. 10/15/09 - cancelled
  4. 10/22/09 - travel applications, 3 event applications, review event application form
  5. 10/29/09 - 2 event applications
  6. 11/5/09 - travel applications, 2 event applications, reserve request
  7. 11/12/09 - 1 event application; email meeting
  8. 11/19/09 - travel applications, review travel estimator form
  9. 12/3/09 - review money situation for the spring semester

In our effort to keep the financial process transparent to all graduate students, the Finance Committee posts its minutes online.  Please note recent minutes will not be posted immediately since they is some turn-around time to get those minutes online.
