Model
United Nations is a mock simulation of the actual United Nations. We
participate in conferences where we represent a certain country other
than the United States, and solve all the world's problems within our
assigned committes!
UNC
Charlotte's Model UN team has earned over 50 awards from conferences
from Atlanta all the way to the Netherlands!
The UNC Charlotte Model UN
Chapter has two aspects:
1. The Club
2. The Class
In
the fall semester, MUN is open to all students and is set up as a club.
During this time, we participate in the Southern Regional MUN
Conference and host a Carolina’s Conference for regional colleges.
Afterwards, members try out for the MUN class which is offered in the
spring and taught by our advisor, Dr. Cynthia Combs, of the Political
Science Department. During the spring semester, MUN prepares
intensively for various conferences around the world, such as the Word
MUN Conference, as part of POLS4163, a Senior Capstone class for
Political Science. MUN has had many achievements at both the national
and regional levels. In Spring 2009, all
of
our delegates who participated in the competitive LAS conference in
Spartanburg, SC won an award, along with an Outstanding delegation
award earned by the UNCC MUN as a whole. All the participants here at
UNC Charlotte are very dedicated! |
