Conferences
UNCC is involved with four MUN Conferences each year: (in order of occurance) Carolina's College Conference, Southern Regional Model UN Conference, Carolina's High School Conference, and WorldMUN.
Carolina's ConferenceHeld once a year before Southern Regional conference. It is largely a training conference where everyone is encouraged to experiment and ask questions. This year, Carolina's Conference will be held on October 24, 2008 until October 25, 2008. The conference discussed issues in General Assembly First, the League of Arab States, and UN Security Council.
Carolina's High School ConferenceA competition sponsored by UNC-Charlotte to inspire interest in Model United Nations as well as a worldly outlook for high school students. All area high schools are invited to participate in this conference, typically held in February.
Southern Regional Model UN Conference Held annually since 1989 in Atlanta, Georgia, Southern Regional is our full club conference where everyone who has paid dues may attend. It is one of the deciding factors in getting into the class and one of the toughest competitions. UNC-Charlotte typically wins awards (In 2005, UNC-Charlotte won awards for all three of its countries).
WorldMUN CompetitionSponsored by Harvard, this competition is held in varying locations around the world (past locations have included Brazil, Germany, Scotland, Egypt, and China, Mexico) and will, in 2009, be held at The Hague in The Netherlands. Those in the class spend the majority of their time in preparation for this competition. To see pictures from the 2006 WorldMUN Conference, click here.
