Dear Esteemed Faculty Advisors and Delegates,

As Secretary-General I am enthusiastic to invite you to the annual Carolina’s College Model United Nations Conference.  The conference is hosted by The University of North Carolina at Charlotte on our main campus.  This year the conference is on October 24th and 25th with special emphasis on the celebration of United Nations Day on the 24th.   The Carolina’s Conference is a two day event that anticipates the expansion of students' knowledge of the United Nations system and facilitates a platform for discussion on international events in a manner that fosters diplomacy and tolerance.

There is no prior Model UN experience necessary to participate in the Carolina’s Conference.  If you do not have a Model UN club or class at your school, we encourage you to assemble a group of students interested in international affairs, current events, politics, debate, or public speaking and start a team!  Model UN simulates procedures and practices of various United Nations organs and can open the door to other model programs and opportunities.  As a Model UN delegate students gain skills and experiences that few other programs can offer in public speaking, formal debate, conflict resolution, and international politics.

The Carolina’s Conference is geared to meet the needs of both novice and experienced delegates. We aim to provide a comfortable setting for new delegates to learn rules, practice speaking, and become familiar with Model UN procedures.  Also we look forward to hosting experienced delegates who can try a new committee and sharpen their skills. This year we are offering three committees: General Assembly, Security Council, and League of Arab States.  These three committees will allow delegates to experience the rules, policies, and procedures of these bodies that will cover a variety of important international issues.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions about the conference at adtruesd@uncc.edu .  Below is the updated schedule. On behalf of the UNCC Model United Nations team, thank you for your consideration and we hope to see many of you at the conference.

Sincerely,
