Update: March 23, 2007:
PRIDE will be
having elections for the
2007-08 Executive Board on Monday, March 26.
I've included descriptions of the available positions
(President, Vice President/Secretary, and Treasurer) at the
bottom of this mail. If you are interested in running for
one of these positions but cannot attend our regular meeting
at 5PM, please contact me to make other arrangements.

Would you like
to help with our upcoming Casino Night event,
Diva Las Vegas?
The following opportunities are available:
*Performers -
singers, dancers, etc. with Vegas style
*Volunteers -
setup/cleanup, various staffing during event (working the
door, etc)
*Poker Dealers!
Bingo Callers!
*Artists -
creating decorations for the event (oversized dice, playing
cards, etc)
This event is on
Tuesday, April 3 from 7PM-10PM. Let me know how you'd like
to help!

PRIDE needs a new logo!
If you have graphic design/art skills, submit your idea for
a new way to visually represent the organization. We'd like
to have a new logo ready by the end of the semester.

PRIDE 2007-08 Executive Board
positions
President:
Be the primary contact for PRIDE
to faculty, students, and administration.
Prepare a master plan for the semester's activities and
distribute to the appropriate persons.
Call regular meetings for the whole group along with
separate meetings for the executive board.
Serve as the representative for the organization to
university meetings such as SAFC workshops, Inter-Club
Council, and others as deemed appropriate. If unable to
attend, the President will assign a representative to attend
in his/her place.
Work closely with the group's advisor and with others who
might help the organization.
Attend all executive and organizational meetings.
Vice President:
Take over the President's
responsibilities when he/she is unable to carry out his/her
duties.
Attend all executive and organizational meetings.
Work to develop collaborative programs and relationships
with Charlotte GLBT organizations.
Secretary:
Record and keep accurate records
including minutes, phone lists, etc.
Read or distribute copies of the minutes to all members of
the organization and advisors.
Prepare copies of the constitution and relevant policies for
all members at the beginning of each year and for new
members throughout the year.
Send correspondence for the organization, keeping a copy for
the organization's files.
Prepare an agenda for each organizational meeting with the
input of other executive committee members.
Treasurer:
Work closely with the SAFC
business manager on all club funding issues.
Coordinate PRIDE's fundraising efforts.
Get advisor's signature on all documents.
Coordinate the contracting process when called for. Planning
at least 6 weeks in advance for any contracts that need to
be signed.
Keep track of all transactions.
Prepare the yearly budget for the organization which will be
submitted to the SGA Ways and Means committee once per year.
Pay all bills promptly.

This year, our plan for the
Day of Silence is a little different. We
will be setting up a visual display on the path between
the Belk Tower and Cone Center, with a table at one end.
Stay tuned for more updates, including when and where to
pick up stickers, cards, buttons, etc. to wear on that
day.

Update: February 27th, 2007:
The coloring contest is coming up on
March 15th; be sure to mark your calendar! We'll be in
Afterhours from 11-2pm, and everyone is welcome to participate.
Also, check out the gorgeous banner outside Mainstreet Market that
we made at Monday's meeting!
Scott Lail, our awesome graduate
assistant, creates the display in the Commuter Lounge on LGBT
issues. If you're in the area, feel free to stop by and get
some current information concerning the LGBT community.
Hopefully, these materials will also be available on this website in
the "help" section in the future.

We have several important
announcements this week:
1. I'd like to
take a moment to recognize the participants in the "Gayest
Mix CD Ever" contest: Lenny
Tran, Jesse
Barber, Blake
Bommelje, and
Jeremy Eudy. All the entries are very gay,
but the gayest will be announced on
February 23. If you
are interested in judging the CDs please contact Lenny (golenny@gmail.com).

Saturday
night, PRIDE will be eating dinner
then playing "Gayzer
Tag" at LaserQuest on
Independence Blvd. For more details, see the facebook page:

If you are attending, please RSVP there or via e-mail, so I
can make a reservation.
3. Have you paid
dues for Spring semester yet? Dues are
$5 for the semester.
4. PRIDE is
having a Button Sale
on Tuesday, February 13
and Wednesday, February 14.
We will be at the bookstore from 11AM-2PM each day. Buttons
are 2 for $1, and we'll have all kinds to choose from.
5. Need
something to do... OFF campus? This Sunday night, Scorpios
is doing a Dreamgirls Revue
show! They are also having a
Valentine's Ball next Wednesday.
