UNC Charlotte takes 5th place (out of 21 teams) in Virginia Beach

Led by Margret Jung, the Charlotte 49ers finished 5th at the 2006 USTA/Virginia Fall Invitational Tournament.
It was UNCC's best result in a team tournament in the club's 4-year history. Margret dominated her opponents
throughout the weekend and went undefeated in singles and mixed doubles play. Overall she tallied 11 wins and
only 1 loss in her 12 matches. Charlotte started off by winning both of its pool play matches versus Johns Hopkins
and Villanova "B" and moved on to the championship playoff bracket. In the first round of the playoffs, UNCC faced
the #1 seed in the tournament and eventual champion, Colorado "A", and lost 4-1, which sent the 49ers into the
championship consolation bracket. The team went on to defeat Villanova "A" and UNC-Greensboro "A" to win the
consolation bracket and claim 5th place overall. Colorado's "A" and "B" teams took 1st and 2nd place, respectively
and Georgetown's "A" and "B" teams took 3rd and 4th. Thanks to everyone who represented Charlotte!
